Core Values
Our core values shall be the preservation of religious worship, teaching, and preaching both the old and new testaments. We are committed to providing fundamental and inspirational worship where believers and nonbelievers encounter the spirit of God and develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.
We subscribe to the TENETS of Assemblies of God as embodied in the Statement of Fundamental Truths. For supplementary information, click Assemblies_of_God. The Morning Star Church of Christ nurtures its development through the following core values. We believe:
- God is the supreme creator and sustainer of the entire universe who is eternal, all present, and all-powerful.
- Jesus Christ as the Son of God is the Messiah who was prophesied in the Old Testament and manifested in the New Testament. He is both fully human and fully divine. He has existed throughout eternity as the “Word” and is the second member of the God family.
- The Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, proceeds from the Father and the Son, is of the same substance, equal to power and glory, and is together with the Father and the Son, to be believed in, obeyed, and worshipped.
- The Bible as the inspired Word of God and recognize it to be God’s infallible revelation of His will. From the Bible, Christians learn about God’s truths and experience affirmation of God’s love in Jesus Christ. Our Sermons utilize biblical themes applied to daily living.
- In Divine Healing, which is a commandment of Jesus to the Apostles. Jesus affirms his teachings on healing by explaining to His disciples, who were to be Apostles; that healing the afflicted is by faith. Therefore, we believe “healing by faith” in God has scriptural support and ordained authority.
- The Lord’s Supper symbolizes the Lord’s death and suffering for the benefit and in the place of His people. It also symbolizes the believer’s participation in the crucified and the resurrected Christ.
- Faith is the absolute knowledge that God exists and that He can and will fulfill His promises. Faith is necessary for salvation, of which, the basic elements are courage, action, and perseverance.
- Salvation deals with the application of the work of redemption to the sinner with restoration to divine favor and communion with God. Salvation generates faith, conversion, regeneration, and sanctification.
- The process of becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ involves: baptism, prayer, ongoing learning about the Christian life, regular worship, and participation in activities which utilize one’s spiritual gifts for the ministry.
- Outreach and service projects are an important means of helping people develop a saving relationship with God through Jesus Christ. And, providing for their physical, spiritual, social, and psychological needs.
- In the body of Christ as a diverse collection of people from all backgrounds. We are committed to all people, just as they are, without regard to race, gender, age, or lifestyle. We value diversity.
- In the power of prayers for direction, intercession, conception, planning and execution of the various ministries and its membership.
